The MARPA Safety Committee Has Kicked Off!

I am happy to announce that the first virtual meeting of the MARPA Safety Committee was held on February 3.

The primary goals of the MARPA Safety Committee were defined, and are two-fold: First, the MARPA Safety Committee will perform a much needed update the MARPA Continued Operational Safety (COS) Policy, which was last revised in 2014; second, it will also be working to educate MARPA membership on Safety Management Systems (SMS) regulations, processes, and implementation.  This phase of activity is planned to be completed by the end of August, 2021.

The MARPA Safety Committee also agreed to the following organizational structure:

                Chair:  Steve Szpunar (HEICO)

                Vice-Chair: George Jimenez (HEICO)

                Staff Contact:  Ryan Aggergaard (MARPA)

The team will be meeting every two weeks with the next meeting occurring on Wednesday, February 17th at 3PM Eastern time.

The committee would like to add more members to gain different perspectives on COS and SMS.  Participation in the committee will also provide the opportunity to shape the direction of MARPA initiatives as well as meet and collaborate with other MARPA members. If you are interested in joining this important committee, please contact Steve Szpunar (sszpunar@heico.com) for more information.
