MARPA is very pleased to announce that it has once again secured a $300,000 matching grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce – International Trade Administration through the Market Development Cooperator Program to help us promote and expand the export of PMA parts! MARPA is one of ten non-profits selected for the award, which establishes a partnership between ITA and the recipient to work together to reduce international trade barriers and increase U.S. exports.
MARPA members and readers of this blog will remember that MARPA previously secured an MDCP award in 2014. This partnership allowed us to expand our efforts to educate regulators and operators outside of the U.S. about the safety, savings, and service benefits offered by U.S.-made FAA-PMA parts. Most importantly, it allowed us to establish the MARPA EMEA Conference held in Europe each spring, which provides excellent opportunities for manufacturing members and European air carrier members (and non-members) to network and find new opportunities for business.
Thanks to the efforts and enthusiasm of our members, the EMEA Conference has become a successful annual event (the current COVID-19 situation notwithstanding). MARPA plans to replicate that success through our new MDCP partnership by establishing the MARPA Latin America PMA Conference. In the coming months we will be coordinating with ITA, the MARPA Marketing Committee, the MARPA Air Carrier Committee, and our membership to establish this conference in Latin America and work to develop that important market and support our Latin American air carrier partners.
MARPA is very excited to once again work with ITA through the Market Development Cooperator Program. ITA estimates that each dollar awarded generates more than $300 in exports and that annually MDCP projects help support or create 17,000 U.S. jobs. MARPA is excited to help our members generate jobs and continue our mission of supporting aviation safety while providing great savings and service to our operator partners.
We look forward to working with our stakeholders on this new exciting initiative and we thank ITA for its confidence in MARPA in once again selecting us for this award.
