Early this week, Hurricane Irma threatened the Caribbean, Florida, and the southern east coast. After making landfall in Florida early Sunday morning as a Category 4, the center of the storm passed west of Orlando early Monday morning. At that point it had weakened to a Category 1 hurricane, with winds of 85 miles per hour. Orlando generally experiences less disturbance due to weather than coastal Florida, due to its central location within the state.
Some Conference attendees expressed concerns regarding the 2017 MARPA Conference on October 25-26 at the B Resort & Spa in Orlando, so MARPA reached out to our hotel partner and received good news. Lights remained on at the B Resort & Spa all through the storm and no damage nor flooding was sustained. The property has operated as normal throughout with no alterations.
Orlando International Airport has also resumed normal operations for flights both domestic and international.
