In mid-December the Commodity Classification Standards Board (CCSB) issued a Notice of Proposed Amendment to the National Motor Freight Classification. Specifically, the proposed amendment seeks to make certain reclassifications relating to helicopter rotor blades and leading edge coverings, and make clarifications regarding aircraft propeller blades. EASA has proposed a new regulation on Vibration Health Monitoring (VHM) for rotorcraft. The proposed rule is open for public comments. MARPA members wishing to comment on this proposal should forward copies of their copies to MARPA, in order to be sure that any comments that MARPA may file are consistent with the interests of the members. The FAA has published a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) that would implement a new fatigue tolerance standard for transport category rotorcraft (Part 29 rotorcraft). The proposed rule would specifically require applicants to submit their fatigue tolerance evaluation methodologies to the Administrator for approval. Continue reading
