Is your company manufacturing interior components? Non-metallic ones? The FAA is publishing new guidance on your quality control system – it is important that you examine the new guidance and assure that it reflects practices that are within your company’s ability to ensure compliance.
The FAA has published a draft advisory circular for comment on Quality Control for the Manufacture of Non-Metallic Interior Compartment Components.
The FAA feels that non-metallic articles obtain the majority of their attributes directly from their manufacturing process. They fear that many quality systems established for the manufacture of metallic articles may be unable to provide the additional controls necessary to ensure conformance to design requirements of non-metallic articles. This draft Advisory Circular is meant to addresses those areas of a quality system that may require expansion to adequately accommodate the manufacture of non-metallic compartment interior articles.
Comments are due to the FAA on August 30, 2010 and mail be emailed to Galvin.E.Coimbre@faa.gov. Comments may be sent directly to the FAA, but we would appreciate it you could share your comments with MARPA no later than August 27 in order to make that the Association’s comments reflect and support the comments and interests of the members.
