Rumor: Garvey to Deputy Secretary

The latest rumor in the industry is that Jane Garvey may be tapped as Deputy Transportation Secretary.

Many in the press have criticized the choice of former Illinois Congressman Ray LaHood for Transportation Secretary because of his lack of transportation experience.  As a former FAA Administrator, Garvey would bring some executive FAA experience to the Office of the Secretary.

Although Secretary LaHood has very little aviation experience, he does have significant experience working with Congress and forming coalitions across the aisle.  He also has a good working relationship with the President.
