This Spring marked the fifth annual–and most successful to date–MARPA EMEA Conference. Held at the Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge, our third year in Dublin saw MARPA continue its engagement with the aircraft leasing community, and continued increasing engagement from the European air carrier community.
The value of this participation cannot be understated as air carriers from both the U.S. and the EU were able to engage with the leasing community and the other PMA stakeholders to discuss the importance of PMA in the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of their fleets, and discuss the wholly unnecessary challenges that arise from restrictive lease clauses.
The conference had great support from regulatory authorities, as representatives from the FAA, UK Civil Aviation Authority, and Irish Aviation Authority, were on hand to discuss acceptability of PMA, international cooperation, and even Brexit.
Attendees also had significant opportunities across receptions, meals, and breaks to network and build and develop relationships to help take advantage of the benefits offered by PMA parts. Attendees included representatives from Aer Lingus, Air France, American, Austrian, British Airways Engineering, Delta, Dubai Royal Air Wing, KLM, Lufthansa Technik, SAS, Stobart, and United.
Peter Berg, Head of Supply Chain Management, Technical Operations at SAS, offered an excellent keynote presentation discussing the process of developing an air carrier’s PMA program, developing company-wide buy-in, and also pointing out the opportunities that exist for PMA suppliers not only in legacy fleets, but also in brand new aircraft of which so many carriers are currently taking delivery.
Mr. Berg and SAS have become great supporters of MARPA and the PMA community. So much so that we are very excited to announce that SAS has agreed to partner with MARPA and host the 2020 MARPA EMEA Conference at SAS Headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, 27-28 May 2020!
